Our Eco program, the GreenSmart Initiative, incorporates the “3R’s” – REDUCE, REUSE & RECYCLE. The purpose is to minimize negative eco-impact as well as contribute to our client’s bottom line. Green meetings mean good business! Increased efficiency with GreenSmart delivered services, conserved resources & reduced expenses = improved bottom line. SPS staff continually search and update our GreenSmart Initiatives.
Corporate social responsibility and GreenSmart Initiatives are an integral part of Streampoint Solutions Vision and Values, as we strive to maximize our natural resources and contribute to community.
Green Smart Initiatives includes:
REDUCE
- Communicate electronically, avoid printed materials
- When print collateral materials are required, request recycled paper stock, using vegetable-based inks
- Use only materials needed at event. Take away what they don’t hand out.
- Find reuse opportunities for decorations, displays and other event materials. These items may be in demand by local schools or charitable organizations. Request recommended organizations to event attendees
- Use electronic or reusable message boards to reduce signage solid waste for meetings, sessions, exhibits, etc.
- Confirm registration by phone and/or electronically. Avoid print fax and/or mailed forms, and avoid producing print materials. If required, keep it short and to the point
- For meeting rooms and exhibits, avoid extensive print handouts and sales brochures. Provide electronic documents to attendees
- Turn off onsite registration equipment and booth lighting when not in use. Save energy
- Printed handouts are double-sided. Only distribute materials to those with a genuine need or interest
- Attendee surveys produced electronically. Avoid paper surveys
- Collect participants email addresses to distribute materials electronically
REUSE
- Plastic badge holders return system. Ensure that name cards are in reusable plastic holders that are returned at the end of the meeting. Provide ‘reuse’ collection bins for delegate name. tags. Work with organizers to encourage returns (i.e. draw to win prize)
- Request re-usable tote bags for delegates. Avoid use of disposable bags.
- Reuse large envelopes for registration materials and/or use manila expandable file
- Session speakers use dry marker erasable boards, blackboards, overheads, Powerpoint slides instead of paper flip charts (if paper flip charts are used, paper should be recycled
- Reuse show boxes
RECYCLE
- SPS On-Site Registration Recycling Station includes industrial shredder and recycling containers
- Ensure recyclable containers are conveniently placed through out facility
- Request event facility has recyclable program in place, and properly sorts recyclable items from trash
- Create signage that can be reused in future events
